What makes a good tree photo?

• Leaves: Capture both top and underside, showing shape, edge pattern, and venation
• Bark: Close-up of texture and color patterns
• Fruit/Flowers: Clear shots of reproductive structures
• Overall form: Full tree silhouette for shape and branching pattern
• Lighting: Natural daylight with minimal shadows

Can I identify trees in winter?

Yes! While leaves are the easiest identifier, you can still identify deciduous trees in winter by photographing bark texture, branching patterns, buds, or any remaining seed pods or fruit. Evergreen trees retain their needles year-round, making winter identification straightforward.

How many tree species can it identify?

What if the identification seems wrong?

Try taking another photo from a different angle or focusing on a different feature (e.g., if you photographed bark, try leaves instead). Ensure the photo is clear and well-lit. If the issue persists, you can contact our support team with the photo and we'll help improve the AI's accuracy.
